If you’re looking for a fun week during the summer holidays where you'll get to ride amazing horses, improve your riding skills and explore the world of horse racing, then the Residential Week is for you. 

There are 8 spots available for those aged 14-18 who are from underrepresented groups and a non-traditional racing or non-horsey background who have learned to ride at an urban equestrian centre and do not have their own pony. The first Residential Week which takes place from Monday 2nd - Friday 6th August 2021 at the British Racing School in Newmarket.

We will run a second Residential Week in 2022.

You will get to ride the horses at the British Racing School each day of the residential course. You will also receive specialist training with a jockey coach, improve your skills on an equiciser (or mechanical horse) and learn more about looking after horses.

You'll find out more about the world of British horseracing - you'll go racing, go behind the scenes at a top racing yard and get to go on other trips such as to a stud. You'll also find out about the different careers opportunities in the sport.


Whilst this is an opportunity to improve your riding and horse care skills, we also want you to have fun, meet lots of people and find out more about what makes British horseracing so special.
